A job abroad, Canada

What you can look up

What the list cannot tell you

That this employer will hire you: a positive LMIA is for a job, not a person. That a new employer is missing only because the list is behind. That a letter you were sent is real.

Signs to watch for

Anyone asking you to pay the employer's fee.

Employment and Social Development Canada: "The processing fee can't be paid by nor be recovered from temporary foreign workers"

Low-wage LMIA requirements, updated on 22 September 2026.

Anyone who promises you the job or the visa.

IRCC: "No one can guarantee you a job or a visa to Canada."

Online and telephone immigration scams, updated on 1 September 2026.

A fee that is not on IRCC's fee list.

IRCC: "Processing fees are the same for all of our services in Canada and around the world."

Online and telephone immigration scams, updated on 1 September 2026.

Only the government that issues the visa decides.

This shows you where to look. It is not advice about your own case.
